People Helping People

At CU SoCal, we take the credit union philosophy of "people helping people" to heart. As an owner of CU SoCal, you can be proud of the support you help provide to positively impact the lives of those in the communities we serve.

Southern California's Helping Hands (SCHH)

Founded in 1997 by CU SoCal employees, SCHH is a charitable organization driven by the vision of treating Southern California's needy families with dignity and respect while providing the necessities of life.

Proceeds from our Annual Golf Tournament (SCHH's flagship fundraising opportunity) help make our Annual Food Drive and Holiday Gift Event possible. For the past Christmas season, 99 families were helped by gifting clothes, toys, household appliances and other items. A total of $12,000 in gifts was distributed. We invite you to learn more about our Holiday Gift Event.

Student Impact Grant (SIG) Program

Each year, CU SoCal awards individual grants of up to $300 to local teachers through its SIG program. These grants fund the creativity of educators as they enrich the lives of their students, and have been used for class projects, technological purchases, even expanded physical education programs. Take a closer look at our SIG program, as well as a list of our 2007 recipients.

American Cancer Society's Relay for Life

2008 marks the sixth year that CU SoCal formed a team consisting of employees, family members and friends participating in the Annual 24-hour event.  In 2008, CU SoCal raised more than $12,400 for the Relay for Life of Whittier and of Fullerton. Relay is much more than just a walk...it's an important opportunity for us to celebrate those who have battled cancer and won, as well as to remember those who are no longer with us.  Funds raised during this event support the fight for a cure.
